Boarding the Luciole

Sunday evening I boarded my hotel barge for the week, The Luciole. It is cozy, charming and roomy. Here are some pics!

Here is my little cabin, which is actually quite functional. Lots of storage under the bed, a small closet and an awesome bathroom with a towel warmer!

Below is the salon where we hang out. It is super cozy and warm (it is kinda cold here). The pic below is only half of it. Notice the cozy blankets over the rail? I sat on the deck outside wrapped up in a blanket this morning watching our transit through the first lock.

This is our host and The Luciole’s owner, Penny. She’s taking a turn at the helm while our Captain has some breakfast! She is a lovely woman who hails from the UK but I believe spent many summers in France as a kid.

This is our ride to take us all over the region on excursions this week.

My fellow passengers are charming – a couple from New Hampshire (she grew up in Rhode Island), their cousin and his wife from France and a chap from the UK – a friend of our host.

  1. Hi Donna, we love your boat. It apperently has all conveniences one needs. And your own private bathroom. Luxory! Bob is interested in your excursions off the boat. He’s contemplating doing something like this in the future. It all sounds great.
