Yes, I’ve been in Dublin for literally less than 24 hours, slept a couple of hours and at the crack of dawn we are off to another country. Wait, it is wayyyyy before the crack of dawn. I was at the airport before I saw any glimpse of the sun!
My first glimpse of the Thames. I had no idea it was pronounced like “Tems.” Yes, we are headed to London to accompany my friends so they can pay their respects to their Queen.
The outskirts of London coming into view.
Do you remember Paddington Bear as a child? Here he is at Paddington Station with a sweet crayon drawing of the Queen that appears to have been left by a child.
Here he is having a sit!
London Bridges falling down???? So, what I always thought was the London Bridge is really the Tower Bridge. The London Bridge is quite ordinary, but this bridge which we walked over was beautiful!
We wandered the “embankment” of the Thames for most of the afternoon. We spoke with a lot of people in the “queue” (that’s line for us Americans) to file past the Queen’s coffin which was lying in State at Westminster Hall. They were from all over the world. There were elderly people, babies, toddlers, people with physical disabilities in wheelchairs – all sorts of people. The average time in line was about 12-15 hours. They had blankets, chairs and colored wrist bands which allowed them to get in and out of the line for food and the loo (again the bathroom for us Americans) and return to their rightful place.
Next up was a stroll through a beautiful area of Kensington to our hotel. Check in, rest for 10 minutes and off again. Good grief, when will I sleep!Â
We wandered through Kensington Park. Here are a couple of views of Kensington Palace. I was sooooo surprised how close we could get!
Amazing photos! The rainbow doesn’t even look real!! Looks like a beautiful place.
I have only spent a few days in London but loved it. And we stayed very close to the Tower of London and walked the Tower Bridge many times.
