Normandy Part II

In the American Cemetery in Normandy are:

45 sets of brothers, 4 women – 3 of which are African American, 1 was an America Red Cross Worker, 20 Native Americans (some may have even been codetalkers), 2 sets of cousins, 151 stars of David denoting where Jews are buried. There are very likely more than 151 Jewish men buried there, but many men in this war didn’t identify themselves as Jewish.

The operational war in Normandy was called Operation Neptune.

The operational war in the whole of Europe was called Operation Overlord.

There was a troop ship that sank in the English Channel on D-Day (which was supposed to be the 5th of June, but changed to the 6th because of bad weather), but wasn’t declassified until 1995 – The Leopold.

There is a wall of the missing, similar to the Vietnam Wall – picture below.
