Dinner In Accolay

I know I promised I wouldn’t post about every meal, but we went to dinner out this evening in Accolay. This is a tiny little village in Burgundy. It is exactly what you would think of when you picture in your mind, the French countryside. Here are some sights from along our walk to dinner.

This is where clothing used to be washed. You wash your clothes down at the bottom end as that is where the water drains. Then you rinse your clothing up at the top end where fresh water pours in. It appears to be spring fed and was beautifully landscaped with pots of hanging flowers.

Update: several days after the pic of the car above was taken, we learned that Penny, our host on board The Luciole, is a friend of the owner. We met them as we were going under a bridge. They were headed out on foot to locate the lost gas cap for the car as they needed to have the car inspected. They never found the gas cap, but did discover that the cap of a WD-40 can works just as well 😉

This car was parked outside of the restaurant which also has some hotel accommodations. We envisioned it belonged to a sort of aging rock and roll looking guy sitting at a table near us. Actually there were only two other couples in the restaurant. In the end, the car disappeared but the aging rock and roll guy. was still seated at his table, so alas we were wrong.

But anyways, the restaurant was stunning! We walked into a dark unassuming ordinary sort of space to hang up our coats and turned the corner and 3 steps down into the room below!

I had curried scallops, sort of like a coq quille st. jacques, roasted pork and a cheese platter. We were served the local wine from the village which owns a bit of land for grapes. It was one of the best wines we had had all week. It was all very delicious and we were able to walk back home before the rain got us again!
